Our Nutritional Philosophy

We believe that children deserve meals that are fresh, balanced, and guided by the
same scientific principles you would trust at home.

Every Good Lunch Box is created using whole ingredients, thoughtful
preparation, and standards inspired by the National Healthy School Canteens
(NHSC) and broader scientific guidelines.

Balanced Nutrition

Each lunchbox includes all the essential elements children need to learn, focus, and grow:

  • grains and wholemeal carbohydrates
  • lean proteins
  • vegetables and fruit
  • dairy and fibre-rich sides

All meals follow a balanced plate model, respecting age-appropriate portions and nutrient needs.

Fresh Food, Prepared Daily

Absolutely no:

• artificial colours or flavours
• artificial sweeteners
• unnecessary additives
• refined sugar in mains
• deep-frying
• sausages, hot dogs, or ultra-processed meats
• peanuts or tree nuts
• canola or palm oils

We prioritise olive oil and sunflower oil, seasonal vegetables and fruit, and wholesome ingredient choices like wholemeal flour and legume flours.

Our meals are cooked fresh every morning using simple, real ingredients, never ultra-processed shortcuts.

Fuel for Learning & Play

A balanced lunchbox helps them:

• learn better in class
• maintain steady energy
• stay focused through the school day
• support healthy long-term growth

Good nutrition is directly linked to children’s concentration, behaviour, and energy.

Variety, Colour & Food Awareness

Healthy eating becomes easier when it’s fun.

Our rotating menus expose children to a wide range of tastes, colours and textures: the “eat the rainbow” approach — encouraging curiosity and positive habits.

Educational cues in the box help children understand what they are eating and why it matters.

We’re not just feeding them; we’re helping them build awareness.

Sustainability & Community

We care for children and for the world they will grow in.

That’s why we:

• source seasonal produce when possible
• avoid unnecessary food miles
• choose eco-conscious packaging redirect leftovers to community centres
• contribute a small donation from every lunch box purchased to the school, supporting educational inititives and wellbeing projects

Every Good Lunch Box supports not only individual wellbeing, but also the wellbeing of the school and the wider community.
